Substances like wine, coffee, and tomato sauce can change the color of your teeth over time, so they look a lot less white than they once did. You may not even realize it until you see a photograph and notice your smile no longer looks bright. Teeth whitening in Fort Collins will make your smile look great again. Tooth whitening, there are different ways to do it. You can do it in the dental office, which is a 45-minute to one-hour visit with retractors, and you get instant gratification. Magically white all at once. You have a little more sensitivity with that, but we have strategies to mitigate that, minimize it, if not eliminate it.
The take-home trays are something that will give you the same result. A couple of impressions of your mouth, come back. The trays are very thin, form fit. We'll show you how much material to use; that's critical. Many people use more material than they need to, and we can show 'em how to use less and get the same result. And the material is prescription-grade, so you're really getting teeth that are white from the inside out.
And that's the advantage of professional bleaching, not whitening. The trays that we make are scalloped to fit the teeth. They don't rest on the gums. If you do get bleaching material on your gums overtly, either with over-the-counter bleach and a tray that might be kinda made from a drugstore, that you bite into. In the professional bleaching, very little material is used. You have something that's made to fit your mouth. So you're not gonna be spilling chemistry on to your gums, or the rest of the discomfort that goes with that, theoretically – not theoretically, but actually – getting bleach on your roots, which will make your teeth very cold-sensitive.
So we can mitigate that by professionally managing that.

Enjoy a Choice of Teeth Whitening Treatments
Unlike most general dental practices, we use a pressurized powder rather than bleach for our chairside whitening treatments. This application method makes it more effective on tough stains. It’s also non-abrasive, so it won’t damage your teeth. This is in contrast to many general dentists, who use office treatments that are simply stronger formulations of home whitening products.
We can also provide professional-strength bleaching kits for you to use at home. Unlike a whitening procedure that removes surface stains, bleaching affects multiple layers of your tooth, not just the surface. Whitening restores your tooth’s natural color, while bleaching can make your teeth whiter than the shade you start with.
In addition to professional-strength bleach from Ultradent Opalescence PF, our home whitening kits include sturdy custom-made trays that make it easy for you to completely cover your teeth. No need to struggle with messy strips!
Be Aware of Differences in Teeth Whitening Treatments
Two key differences between home teeth whitening and a treatment in our office are:
- Time Needed for Whitening – A treatment in our office takes about an hour. The home whitening process usually takes a few weeks to achieve the brightest results.
- Cost – The office treatment is a bit more expensive. However, we do all the whitening work for you, and your results will last longer.
